Corps Security Corporate Social Responsibility

Although there are a number of definitions of what corporate social responsibility (CSR) is, the European Commission sums it up as:

‘A concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations and in their interaction with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis.’

Corps Security always aims to exceed expectations and this also extends to our CSR activities. We focus our endeavours in three main areas – the environment, the workplace and charitable activities.

As a major employer in the security sector, we recognise that our responsibilities extend beyond our base-line commercial business interests and we acknowledge that what we do has an impact on people and the environment. We therefore monitor this impact and do whatever we can to ensure that our actions do not harm either.

We recognise that as an organisation, we are only as good as the people who work for us. Therefore, we value and promote diversity in all areas of recruitment, employment, training and development. We foster a working environment that is based on meritocracy and inclusiveness, where all employees can develop their full potential, irrespective of their race, gender, marital status, age, disability, religious belief, political opinion or sexual orientation.

Corps Security recognises that in the provision of its services the highest standards of professionalism are required. Our motto is ‘loyalty, integrity, service’ and we are committed to dealing with customers with these attributes to the fore. Likewise, we expect our suppliers to operate to these same principles, as well as those embodied in the Ethical Trade Initiative which is an alliance of companies, trade unions and voluntary organisations working in partnership to improve the lives of vulnerable workers across the globe.

On a broader level, we wish to promote the UK security industry generally and improve its reputation and the professionalism of those working in it. Managers at all levels of our business are expected to involve themselves with local and national organisations and bodies to promote good citizenship within the security community.

Giving back is important to us and we have a comprehensive programme of charitable giving and fundraising that involves all members of our team. As well as supporting the British Limbless Ex-Service Men's Association (BLESMA), Poppyscotland, The Gurkha Welfare Trust, the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF)  we also raise money for Combat Stress via a range of fundraising activities. We now also have an Armed Forces Corporate Covenant stating our commitments to supporting the UK armed forces.

In 1859 Corps Security was founded on the principle of helping others, improving our surroundings and giving our employees the best possible environment to work in – values that are still just as important to us today.
